Mandatory Travel Insurance

Effective October 1, 2024, it will be mandatory for all foreigners to possess valid Inbound Travel Insurance which will provide coverage for the duration of their stay (up to 92 days).
This requirement is being implemented to ensure the safety and well-being of all foreigners and mitigate any possible risk pertaining to their travel into the island.

It is essential that all prospective foreigners make necessary arrangements to obtain suitable inbound travel insurance ONLY from Zanzibar Insurance Corporation through QR Code that will be provided before embarking on their journey to Zanzibar.

Failure to comply with this mandatory requirement may result in entry denial at immigration checkpoints.

A Fully vaccinated passenger no longer required to present a negative PCR test certificate.

A Non or partially vaccinated passenger must present a negative PCR test certificate, using a sample collected within 72 hours of arrival.

RETURNING HOME (updated 05 May 2022)
Fully Vaccinated passengers travelling to South Africa are no longer required to hold a printed medical certificate of a negative Covid-19 PCR test result.
Non vaccinated Passengers are still required to present a printed medical certificate of a negative covid-19 PCR test result.
Children under the age of 12 years of age do not need to provide PCR test results nor do they need to present a proof of vaccination when returning to South Africa.
